CHART is no regular charity. CHART aims to tap the power of communities to solve the cancer problem.
CHART was first established in 2003 but moved forward dramatically in 2012 due to the input of new Chairman, Dr Nyjon Eccles and new Directors, Joshua Antanaitis and Mehrtash A'zami. CHART’s aim is to provide information about, access to and subsidy for the most effective and safe natural cancer treatments.
We felt that there was a need for accurate, trustworthy information in the area of natural cancer treatment, so that patients who seek alternatives to radiation, chemotherapy and surgery have the best possible information, vetted by trained doctors and based on science available in one place.
CHART is a registered non-profit organisation committed to both cancer prevention and providing natural therapies to assist and support the well-being and recovery of people with cancer.
The official "objects" of CHART are as follows.
- to provide education and awareness of environmental, lifestyle and nutritional factors that research suggests have a bearing on cancer formation
- to conduct ongoing research into natural therapies that assist recovery from cancer
- to provide education and awareness of diagnostic tests, monitoring technologies and proven natural therapies
- to support cancer sufferers by providing access to diagnostic tests and monitoring technologies, which might include financial subsidy or sponsorship
Dr Nyjon Eccles BSc MBBS MRCP PhD, Chairman and Medical Director
After spending time in research and practice of "chemical-based" medicine and not happy with the possibilities that could be achieved by single chemical pharmaceuticals in health restoration, Dr Eccles decided to expand and develop his longstanding interest in Nutritional Medicine.
This journey took him to the Czech Republic, Spain, India and the USA where he studied with pioneering doctors whose broader approach, over and above relief of symptoms, was achieving dramatic restoration of health using nutrients, phytochemicals and electromagnetic medicine. His observation of cancer remissions led him to develop this area as a special interest.
Over the years he has developed specific and powerful nutritional programs for restoration of cellular health. These therapies he offers at The Chiron Clinic, which he set up in 1998.
He is pioneering the introduction to the UK of Medical Infrared Thermal Imaging for very early non-invasive detection of breast cancer and screening of musculoskeletal disorders. He states, "Earlier detection in younger women by Thermography gives us an unprecedented opportunity to stem the tide of increasing breast cancer occurrence. Thermal abnormalities indicative of increased risk can then be reversed by the correct attention to lifestyle, nutrition and lymph detoxification".
He is one of the leading Integrated Medicine Physicians in the UK and has a reputation for his practice of evidence-based Complementary Medicine.
His research in magnetic medicine led to the first ever magnetic product being given Drug Tariff approval in March 2006, as well as the filing of 3 patents for the discovery of novel mechanisms of action of magnetic fields on the human body.
In an attempt to help people to alter their disease risks, he lectures regularly on topics such as "Natural Cancer support", "Food as Medicine", "Breast Health and Nutrition", "Prostate Health and Nutrition" , "Clinical Thermography" and "Child Health and Nutrition".
When asked about his involvement in CHART he states "The challenge of finding natural molecules that can help the body to battle cancer has occupied my research and clinical endeavours for the last 12 years. It was my time in the Czech Republic back in 1998, studying with a well renowned medical doctor and witnessing the amazing results that he was achieving in cancer patients with combinations of nutritional supplements that started me on this journey. What followed was my deeper exploration into the mechanisms of cancer and a greater understanding of how certain nutrients were able to support normal cell function.
"It has been a longstanding desire to help set up a charity that could help provide evidence-based awareness of natural molecules that can help the body to fight cancer. CHART is a way I can channel all I’ve learned for the past 12 years into something bigger where more people can benefit from mine and other doctors knowledge on this subject together with the experiences of the many cancer patients to create an unmatched resource on natural cancer healing for the good of all."
Mr Joshua Antanaitis BComm, LLB, Dip Bus Prog, Information and Technical Director
Joshua is the "computer guy" in the group. He has a passion for building systems that people love to use, and is motivated strongly by the internet's power to connect people.
Joshua's family had a keen interest in good health the natural way. When Joshua's father found out he had cancer, he chose to avoid the conventional treatments and treat himself. He lived with the disease for 5 years but succumbed to it in early 2011.
In helping his father throughout his illness, Joshua encountered the struggles of healing oneself without systematic support. Joshua found a bewildering amount of information on "alternative" cancer treatment, found it very difficult to determine which protocols worked and would suit his father.
Joshua still believes, as his father did, in naturally-based cancer approaches, but they both learned the hard way that they can't work as effectively without the structure, system and rigor of conventional medicine.
Joshua knew there had to be a better way, and with Dr Nyjon Eccles and the CHART team has developed CHART's Medical Log, in the hope that people like he and his father have the best possible information if they choose to go it naturally.
Joshua recently worked for Google, and thanks Google for their generous "1% time" program, where employees can help charities with 1% of their working time, paid for by Google.
